Kaite O’Reilly is a playwright, radio dramatist, writer, and dramaturg who works in disability arts and culture and mainstream culture. She won the Peggy Ramsay Award for YARD and M.E.N. Best Play of 2004 for Perfect. Her acclaimed version of Aeschylus’ Persians, winner of the Ted Hughes Prize, was directed by Mike Pearson in the inaugural year of National Theatre Wales. In Water I’m Weightless, her Unlimited/Cultural Olympiad Commission for the London 2012 Olympics festival, was produced by National Theatre Wales at Southbank Centre. The Mandarin premiere of her latest script, The 9 Fridas, about disability icon Frida Kahlo was directed by Phillip Zarrilli at Taipei International Festival.
